Pelikan Denizcilik ve Ticaret Ltd has been active in the shipping industry since 1997. Ms Meltem Süloğlu (Aydin) set the company up after her career in the London Shipbroking market and has developed it steadily. We presently have a team of 11 professionals who are experts in their own fields.
The company is committed to provide fast, up-to-date, accurate and reliable information to its distinguished clients.We are the leading shipbroking firm in Turkey in terms of the total deal volume and number of transactions. Pelikan provides professional services to over 1000 clients including shipowners and shipyards. Our main market is Turkiye, Russia, Former Soviet Union Countries, Balkans and Middle East countries for second hand sales. We also provide support to European, North and South American clients in ordering ships in Turkish Shipyards. We work very closely with all Korean Shipyards and well known Chinese Shipyards with whom we have concluded number of deals. We also have very close relationships with leading demolition buyers in India, Pakistan and in Turkiye.
We have developed our network over the years. We have very good relationships with our broker friends worldwide which helps us to get accurate and even confidential information ahead of the market.
We are fully supported by well known shipping lawyers, bankers, technical managers, and commercial managers. We are thankful to all our friends for their support which they have shown to us over the years.
Our uniqueness is our ability to communicate with our clients in our own culture. We are the children of the Ottoman Empire, with the mixed culture of east and west. Turkiye and Turkish people maintain this culture, which helps us communicate easily with all nationalities.
All of the professionals in Pelikan have extensive experience in international shipbroking markets. We are able to provide tailor made solutions. Basically we are the company with the local know-how and the ability to combine it with an international perspective and shipping ethics. Senior management have 15 years average experience within Pelikan; other team members have an average of 4-6 years working in Pelikan. All professionals are University graduates and all speak fluent English. Some of our colleagues also speak a third language.

Meltem Süloğlu
Meltem Süloğlu (Aydin) was born in July 1972. She has her Bachelor's degree on Management Engineering from Istanbul Technical University with graduation in 1993. She started her shipping career at Equionox Chartering in London by also taking shipping courses in Guildhall University. She was trained in Foresight (shipowners) and Miller Marine Insurance at Lloyds of London for marine insurance. Thereafter she worked in Galbraiths where she was also trained in tanker chartering, drycargo chartering, ship sale and purchase departments. After working in various shipping areas, she decided that ship sale and purchase broking was the most suitable career path for her. She worked in Cleaves Shipbroking until Feb 97 as a ship sale and purchase broker. She moved back to Istanbul in July 1997 and established her own company Pelikan Denizcilik Ltd in Sept 1997. Since then Pelikan has become the leading ship sale and purchase broking company in Istanbul and a reputable market player world-wide. Under Ms Meltem Süloğlu's leadership, Pelikan become a brand name in Turkey.
Ali Osman Aydın
Ali Osman Aydın was born in June 1975. He has his Bachelor's degree on Civil Engineering from Yıldız Technical University with graduation in 1997. He started his career at STFA where he enjoyed civil engineering works hugely. However his life path brought him to shipping and he is in the team of Pelikan right from the day one.
Emre Süloğlu
Emre Suloglu was born in 1979 at Eskisehir. He studied Archaeology and History of Art at Bilkent University, Ankara and had a bachelor degree from Ankara University, Modern Greek Language and Literature. He has worked at operation and commercial departments of several shipping companies in Turkey. Thenafter he joined to Pelikan where he is working as a ship sale & purchase broker since 2010.
Figen Şengül
Figen Sengul was born in 1972 in Eskisehir. After her Finance degree in Anadolu University in 1996, she spent two years in London fr education. Thereafter she has worked in export department in Hisarlar A.S in Eskisehir fr abt 2 years, then she moved to Istanbul and joined the Pelikan Team in July 2000 and she is working as an s&p broker since then.
Büşra Sular
Busra Sular was born in 1990 in Istanbul. She studied International Logistics in Beykoz Vocational School of Logistics. During her study, she was a trainee at LLP department in DHL Supply Chain. She joined the Pelikan Team in 2011 and she is working as an assistant to our brokers. Without her we would be blind in the market.
